What is a Dashboard and Why is it Important to Talent Management?

What is a dashboard? What makes it so important in the talent management world? According to Peter McFadden’s, CEO of Excel Dashboard Widget, “What is Dashboard Reporting”,  a dashboard is “an easy to read, often single page, real-time user interface, showing a graphical presentation of the current status (snapshot) and historical trends of an organization’s key performance indicators to enable instantaneous and informed decisions to be made at a glance.” I know, that is a hefty definition; however it answers both questions.
